Friendship is Healing

Two of my wonderful friends came to see me and spend the whole day with me. But not just any two friends. K, on the left, was up from North Carolina for her mother’s birthday and while she has a lot of family here and it’s sometimes hard to get time with her (although she generally does find time for old friends), she blocked out a whole day to spend with me. B., on the right, came in from Connecticut. These are women I’ve been friends with since Junior High school, folks. Junior High School!! I mean, B. and I were lab partners in 9th grade biology, dissecting that fetal pig, poor piggie. I was reminiscing today about a certain boy in that class who would make his pig dance and sing “Dem Bones” while it danced.

Dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones
Dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones
Dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones
Gonna hear the word of the Lord.

Hmmmm . . . . I think that may be a “you had to be there” type of thing.

Anyways.

I could tell you about how we went to lunch and coffee at lunch meant Irish Coffee (**gasp!**) or I could tell you how we went to the wig shop where I bought Angie and we made the acquaintance of a few other wigs and K. bought me the beautiful blue hat you’ll see later in this post and B. bought me a styrofoam head because a styrofoam wig head is a bitchin’ thing to own plus I can practice my scarf-tying techniques on it or just use it as my model to tie my scarves on. I could tell you about going to Starbucks, Borders, and then Cold Stone Creamery where I ensured that dinner wasn’t needed tonight. I could tell you about how those two didn’t let me pay for anything today and spoiled me rotten.

I could tell you that I had a super fantabulous day, the best day ever, better than anything that the Dr. can order. I could tell you that these two wonderful women lifted me out of my funk and gave me a really great day, an incredible gift just by their presence today. I could do all of that, but I’ll just let the photo above and the one below do the talking.

Oh, LM. I’m so happy that you had a great day! You know, you pretend to be so snarky, but you’re really just a big old softy with a lot of friends. ADMIT IT; PEOPLE LOVE YOU.

I totally want Ellen Page to play me in the Lifetime movie about your life. She’s just so gay. I just thought I’d let you know.

I can’t wait to see you and your styrofoam head! (Not a sentence one makes every day… ;)

The dog is jealous. Pet the dog please.

You go, girl. You deserve some great days.

I can see the love. How nice it is to have good friends!

You look so beautifully happy! May it soon be that everyday makes you feel like this one! ((((always hugs))))

9th Grade! That’s awesome! Friends are the best of all medicines!

Well, I thought I liked some of my photos until I got to see yours! I checked the blog before I checked email.

It was a fabulous day!!! And, I do think our laughter was contagious from the looks we got! (OK — what was said in the wig shop STAYS in the wig shop!

Does the rest of the world have code words — such as “fetal pig” — that can send bring laughter that hard. Or how I KNOW where you learned how to run a library!

I am glad that you love the hat — and I hope that the new head (did she get a name?) helps you find quick and easy ways to tie scarves because they do tell me that eventually spring will come to OH. (I think there is a new Lotto game about that.)

It was great to see F, N, and M — but our day was with you!

If laughter is good medicine, here’s to a great month of March!

love from me, D, the rest of my family and even my wild red dogs!

[...] I said before, friendship is healing. And it is, it really [...]

you look happy!

You look very happy =))

Okay, I’m the B!

I had such a great time. As I mentioned to another friend today, I felt like we just left our high school campus yesterday! Friendship is something that time apart doesn’t change. I was also privileged to meet the little guy for the first time.

We laughed so much, I was still hoarse today. That is the way it should be. Knowing all of us, it was fun to watch each of us get a word in edgewise.

J, I’m so glad we could help lift your spirits. You both lifted mine as well. I’m looking forward to our weekend in NC now! I agree K, her pictures are better than mine!!

Take care and love ya lots!!

You are beautiful, Judy… And I’m so glad you had such a wonderful time with your friends!

Thinking of you– CGF xo
