Two of my wonderful friends came to see me and spend the whole day with me. But not just any two friends. K, on the left, was up from North Carolina for her mother’s birthday and while she has a lot of family here and it’s sometimes hard to get time with her (although she generally does find time for old friends), she blocked out a whole day to spend with me. B., on the right, came in from Connecticut. These are women I’ve been friends with since Junior High school, folks. Junior High School!! I mean, B. and I were lab partners in 9th grade biology, dissecting that fetal pig, poor piggie. I was reminiscing today about a certain boy in that class who would make his pig dance and sing “Dem Bones” while it danced.
Dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones
Dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones
Dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones
Gonna hear the word of the Lord.
Hmmmm . . . . I think that may be a “you had to be there” type of thing.
Anyways.
I could tell you about how we went to lunch and coffee at lunch meant Irish Coffee (**gasp!**) or I could tell you how we went to the wig shop where I bought Angie and we made the acquaintance of a few other wigs and K. bought me the beautiful blue hat you’ll see later in this post and B. bought me a styrofoam head because a styrofoam wig head is a bitchin’ thing to own plus I can practice my scarf-tying techniques on it or just use it as my model to tie my scarves on. I could tell you about going to Starbucks, Borders, and then Cold Stone Creamery where I ensured that dinner wasn’t needed tonight. I could tell you about how those two didn’t let me pay for anything today and spoiled me rotten.
I could tell you that I had a super fantabulous day, the best day ever, better than anything that the Dr. can order. I could tell you that these two wonderful women lifted me out of my funk and gave me a really great day, an incredible gift just by their presence today. I could do all of that, but I’ll just let the photo above and the one below do the talking.
