Love Thursday: “Hey, Parents!”

Sometimes Nate just refers to us as “Parents.” “Come on, Parents, follow me,” he’ll say. I think it’s adorable. “Hey Parents, look at this.”

For this, it was something along the lines of “I’ll take a picture of you, Parents.”

Well, OK, then. And take a picture, he did.

He’s getting pretty good at taking pictures with Mom’s digital camera, particularly for a 5 1/2-year-old. Many of them come out quite well. This one both Parents especially like. This is nice too because there are very few pictures of just the Parents together. Or, as we sometimes like to think of ourselves, just Husband and Wife, or good ol’ Judy and Frank. Distinct individuals. An actual couple. People who really did exist before this amazing all-encompassing person who we love dearly and like no other, but who we actually are able to have dinner at the local yummy restaurant together without (despite his “can I come?” entreaties) or attend a concert together without.

It’s amazing how much a child takes up your life and being and molecules when you become a parent and sometimes you have to fight to remember that you’re a couple apart from being that child’s Parents. Sometimes when Frank and I hug each other, Nate becomes part of the action in a “Family Hug!!!” :D But there are reminders, this one even initiated by the boy himself, that we were there before he came along and we still even kind of like each other. Most of the time anyways. ;)

Happy Love Thursday, everyone. May you remember the love you’ve found this past week in your life.

You are good people and very very cute.

That is VERY smart calling you “Parents”…he came up with that himself? He figured out one word to refer to both of you…
he’s adorable and smart!
