Posts Of Note From The Past Week (Or So)

Preface: I don’t know if this will become a Regular Feature or not — maybe, maybe not. But in my excursions throughout Bloggerville, I come across some posts that I want to share with my growing (OK, handful — shut up!) readers of my l’il ol’ (well, new) blog. So here you have it. The Maybe-Weekly-Or-Monthly-Or-Whenever-I-Feel-Like-It-Or-Maybe-
Never-Again Posts Of Note From The Past Week (Or So)
:

1. Quote of the week from Post Secret:

Every single person has at least one secret that would break your heart. If we could just remember this, I think there would be a lot more compassion and tolerance in the world.

2. Speaking of something that will break your heart — read on. January 22, 2007 was Blog for Choice Day, and many bloggers did just that, blogged for choice. Articulate, passionate, intelligent bloggers put fingers to keyboard and shared their views about allowing women to continue to have choice in their reproductive lives. I could list a dozen women who moved me and made me say “YEAH!” out loud in response to their impassioned pleas to continue to provide choice for women. Oh, I’m sure men blogged for this issue too; I just happened to read women bloggers on that day.

However, one blogger simply moved me to a blubbering mess of tears with her post (and the story behind it), which I didn’t even read until Jan. 24. I found Julia’s blog by complete serendipity, and I’m glad I did. Through one post, I’ve added her blog, Uncommon Misconception, to my blogroll. I look forward to reading more of her blog when I get the chance.

No matter where you fall on the side of the issue, read her post. Just. Read. It.

3. On the funny side: from the ever-popular Woulda Coulda Shoulda, Mir’s Oh Yes I Did is, well, priceless. It’s too short to need a summary and too funny to pass up. Read the comments too, including the one from Mir’s Dad.

4. WantNot.net is one of my favorite websites, and it’s another of Mir’s blogs. *waves* Hi, Mir. No, Mir isn’t giving me kickbacks for mentioning her blogs; she’s just a damn good blogger. If I do end up doing this as a regular feature, you may see her sites mentioned again. I’m just sayin’. This week, I especially liked the post telling about Free Directory Assistance. Yes, you heard . . . . OK, read me right. Free. Directory. Assistance. I don’t know about you, but I find paying for directory assistance annoying. (pssssttt! There are lots of other good money-saving tips on her blog!)

5. Every week, I look forward to Thursday when I can post my own Love Thursday contribution and see others’ Love Thursday contributions on Love Thursday: Love Is All Around Us and where people list their Love Thursday posts. It’s a week-brightener every single week. And typically every week, one or two Love Thursday posts will stand out for me for some reason. This week, Amoblog’s Love Thursday post was a stand-out. Why? Read it to find out.

6. And finally, read a post by Mia of Mia’s Saving Grace about why it’s so important for adoptees to have access to open records and how difficult it can be for some of them to obtain records about themselves. It’s important stuff, people.
